Universalizable Entropy Forms
Saturday Asides: A Presentation of Poetry and Prose

Panic
Life’s fieriest womb relinquishes arability as all’s fundament is suddenly dissembled into a vapid witch-ballad. And a realization supervenes. These sacred germs were elegiac garments. Worse, they’re borrowed: unwittingly donned to whelm the world’s transparency in my enigmatic object’s seeming nakedness; a hoard of hand-me-down sayings and quasi-illusory symbols flatly lain against the vortex—revealed like cubist figures formed on a necrotic canvas—to persuasively curtain the cosmos in intelligibility and ingratiate my face’s unwelcome legibility.

Still, she lives:
I, dead, to her;
wispily saddled
over an intractably burdened brow;
reckoned better to a tenuous flame,
too softened by satiety
to warrant appetition's allegiance.
A recognizable spirit flickers:
my longest haunt—subsistent
on whatever little's left to live
by those dear, die-hard organs
who've unkindly commandeered
bodily autonomy's lion share
for their own survival's sake.
Her leonine fire hangs on,
in hapless persistence,
without hope of ever catching ahold
of anything to again burn for or against.
But a flame remains aflame.
Some ended up unscarred.
Others were seared.
And I, good as dead to her, am paralyzed
in the jaws of my soul's umbilic recess
by an original revelation's renewal.

Two spirits deformationally bound, one fades into shadow while the other keeps burning on pure instinct: two sides of the same continuous unraveling…
