Wow I feel this piece in my gut! Is starvation of the snake love of self? This piece speaks of listening to the animal of the body. I love the phrase in the Mary Oliver poem Wild Geese.... paraphrasing you don't have to be good, you only have to love what that soft animal of your body loves. The part of not having to be good.... hits me in the gut.

Love-of-self laments the serpent's despair for having been a slave to the heart. "Meanwhile the world goes on." I love it! The world's transformative nature is something to be grateful for. You've watched my own dragons slither in unsubdued, here, only to be taken up as a part of nature's enthrallment and written into my murky substrate—so that we may work through the cycle's next iteration.

Wild Geese was a moving read. Thank you for sharing and for seeing me.
